What types of protective devices should be installed on Sichuan generators? What is its purpose?
Classification:
According to the capacity, type, importance, and characteristics of generators in Sichuan, the following generator protections are installed to promptly reflect various faults and abnormal working conditions of the generator.
(1) Longitudinal differential protection. Used to reflect the phase to phase short circuit of the generator coil and its lead wires.
(2) Horizontal differential protection. Used to reflect a short circuit between one branch turn of the generator stator winding in the same phase or between different branches in the same phase.
(3) Overcurrent protection. Used to cut off overcurrent caused by external short circuit of the generator and serve as a backup protection for internal faults of the generator, usually in conjunction with composite voltage (low voltage, negative sequence voltage, etc.).
(4) Single phase grounding protection. Reflect the single-phase grounding fault of the stator winding. When single phase grounding protection is not installed, insulation monitoring devices should be used to issue grounding fault signals.
(5) Asymmetric overload protection. To reflect the overcurrent caused by asymmetric loads, generators above 5MW should generally be equipped with this protection, which operates on the signal.
(6) Symmetric overload protection. Overcurrent caused by symmetrical overload should generally be installed in one phase overload signal protection.
(7) Overvoltage protection. Reflect the overvoltage of the stator winding caused by sudden load shedding of large steam turbine generators.
(8) The grounding protection of the excitation circuit is divided into rotor one point grounding protection and rotor two-point grounding protection. Reflect the insulation status of the excitation circuit.
(9) Magnetic loss protection. It is a reaction to the demagnetization of the generator caused by excitation failure. Depending on the severity of the demagnetization, the generator is reduced in load, the plant power is cut off, or the generator is tripped.
(10) Generator water cut-off protection. Installed on the water-cooled generator set, it reflects the interruption fault of the generator's cooling water.
The above ten protections are required for Sichuan generators. In order to quickly eliminate generator faults, the various protections introduced above, except for those indicated to act on signals, all other protections act on the tripping of the generator circuit breaker and also on the tripping of the automatic demagnetization switch.
